Letting Things FALL: MBSEL Activity for Your Priorities & Passions
Every moment is an opportunity to see the gifts surrounding us, especially from Mother Nature. As fall continues to make itself known, I was inspired to write a poem to express what is in my heart.
Wellness Strategy: Letting Things FALL: Recovering Your Priorities & Passion
Fall is the perfect time to pause and reflect, to celebrate and prepare for renewal. Let the seasons be a guide for how you can embrace the experiences around you. Become FALL.
Visualization: Imagine yourself as the most colorful tree—you are the trunk (which remains constant), and all of the pieces of you are the leaves: all of your identity labels that the world gives you and you give yourself. Honor and celebrate every leaf, and begin to decide what needs to fall away. What needs to be released so that it allows for new leaves to grow in the future? What needs to fall to conserve your energy?
****Downloadable leaf template found below that you can use for yourself as a reminder AND it can be shared with children/students!
Mindfulness-based SEL Activity:
Write all of the leaves you can and sort into two piles:
1. Leaves to Celebrate, 2. Leaves to Let Fall.
Become the tree, say “Thank you” to each leaf.
For the ones to let fall, gather them together.
Place each one on your heart, say, “Thank you, __(what you wrote)___, for ___(positive outcome)___.”
Take a breath in, and a breath out and blow the leaf to the ground.
Repeat for each leaf.
Either use a recycling bin to catch the leaves (as this is a reminder of the “cycle”) or consider creating a fall gratitude fire to release the gratitudes.
Share out on social media your leaves and what leaves became nature’s confetti.
